Makerspace Materials and Supplies
Adafruit - Company that makes and supports creative electronics kits, including sewable LEDs and processors! (My favorite example is the Ampli-tie.)
Inexpensive bulk LEDs - $.03 per LED in packs of 100 (plus shipping). These LEDs have visible color when unlit. Five different colors, including white.
Evil Mad Scientist - Lots of cool electronics kits, and also the best pricing on bulk candle-flicker LEDs!
Surface Mount LEDs - Extremely tiny little LEDs that can used in paper circuit activities. Cheaper and smaller, but can be a little more challenging to handle.
Dollar Tree Tools - Great place for thinks like tape measures, rulers, small rubber mallets, gloves, and safety glasses. Dollar tree also has posterboard, clothepins, storage bins, and other craft and office supplies.

The process they describe would also be a great approach for students, and they have a template of a design notebook that would work really well in a Makerspace setting.
